Kenana Knitters is a grassroots organisation that empowers women in rural Kenya through sustainable income from hand-knitting beautiful products from local, organic wool. Founded in 1998 by Patricia Nightingale, Kenana Knitters has grown to support over 300 knitters and 200 spinners who use recycled bicycle wheels as spinning wheels. Kenana Knitters is committed to improving the lives of the women and their families by providing them with fair wages, flexible work, health and wellbeing clinics, adult literacy classes and more. Kenana Knitters is also dedicated to environmental sustainability by using natural plant dyes and AZO-free dyes to create vibrant and colourful designs. Kenana Knitters is changing lives stitch by stitch.
