Meet Zarina, animal lover and Biome Brand Ambassador. Zarina is a passionate advocate for local, cruelty-free and zero-waste brands. As a mum of her fur baby, a rescue dog from the Middle East, she supports animals charities and brands that donate for environmental projects and animal shelters. She truly believes we should coexist in harmony with the nature. Read on to learn more about Zarina.

You mentioned you love all things make up and beauty. What are you favourite ways to go zero waste there?
I prefer brands with zero or minimum packaging. A great example is the brand Dearest Lips which has a cork packaging made locally to reduce carbon emissions. I also tend to buy refills. Recently I bought mineral powder and blush wrapped in paper, with zero plastic or glass packaging. I used glass jars that I already had at home to store my newly bought cosmetics there.
When it comes to removing makeup, I use natural oil and solid face cleanser. Ethique and Urthly Organics have a great choice of solid zero waste products.
You also travel quite frequently. Do you have any tips for reducing your impact while travelling?
I always take my own solid shampoo, hair conditioner and soap because almost all hotels use plastic supplies. I also take my own water bottle and use water stations to refill if possible.
Tell us a little bit about your beautiful rescue dog Chloe
Unlike in Australia where dogs are popular, they are not in the Middle East. Our dog Chloe was found in the desert in Dubai when she was a puppy. She was then saved and put in a small local shelter where she spent one year before my husband and I adopted her.
It was 8 years ago and she is now the most loved and spoiled fur baby living a life full of naps, snacks and adventures. Unfortunately, not all dogs are so lucky and there are plenty of them who are on the streets or in shelters but we are glad we saved at least one of them. We also regularly visit local shelters to volunteer and donate.
What is your favourite Biome product or brand?
It is difficult to choose one but if I have to pick it would be The Butt Naked. I love their products, they are natural, Australian made, cruelty and palm oil free. They have cute packaging and the best part is that they donate 5% of their profit to dogs and cats in need.
