What is the Biome Laundry Concentrate Bar?
The Biome Laundry Concentrate Bar is a compact, solid alternative to traditional liquid detergents. Made with powerful, plant-based ingredients, this bar delivers the same cleaning power as conventional detergents without the plastic waste or harsh ingredients.
Do we need to dissolve it in water first? Or can it go in the machine solid?
The Biome Laundry Bar is dissolved in water (straight out of the tap works fine or add warm water to speed it up) for a several hours. Then add about 50ml of the liquid to each load.
Is it septic and grey water safe?
Yes. The bar is made from plant oils and extracts and citric acid, so there are no chemicals that will harm bacteria.
How long can I keep it in the jar once dissolved?
The dissolved solution will last up to 6 months. Store in a cool spot out of direct sunlight. The bar itself will last for 18 months!
How much do I make at once?
You can make as little or as much as you like. To make up 1 litre, dissolve two cubes. For travelling, cut into even smaller cubes and dissolve in a small jar as needed.
I use sodium percarbonate (oxygen bleach) for soaking & in-wash boosting. Is it safe with this liquid?
Yes. Oxygen bleach or washing soda can be added to the wash water for an extra cleaning boost.
Is the packaging plastic free?
Sure is! The bar comes in a cardboard box which can be recycled or composted. When you re-purchase you can buy without packaging.
What does it smell like?
Pure and clean! You can mainly smell Lemon Myrtle, which becomes subtle when dissolved. There no over-powering fumes of synthetic fragrances. It is also available unscented.
Can the bar be used directly on fabric to scrub tough stains?
Yes. Wet the fabric and rub a tiny amount directly from the bar onto the stain, or use some of the liquid, then wash as normal. We’ve also been amazed at how well it works as a pre-soaker for stain removal.
